Assassination Nation is the thousand-percent true story about how the quiet, all-American town of Salem, absolutely lost its mind. Writer/director Sam Levinson returns with an unflinching, unrelenting, undeniable picture of what’s it’s like to be alive and online this very second.
High school senior Lily and her group of friends live in a haze of texts, posts, selfies and chats just like the rest of the world. So, when an anonymous hacker starts posting details from the private lives of everyone in their small town, the result is absolute madness leaving Lily and her friends questioning whether they’ll live through the night.
The film features dazzling breakout performances by Odessa Young (The Daughter), Hari Nef (“Transparent”), Suki Waterhouse (The Bad Batch) and singer/songwriter ABRA. The amazing cast is rounded out with Bella Thorne (“Famous in Love”), Maude Apatow (This is 40, Knocked Up), Bill Skarsgard (It), Anika Noni Rose (Dreamgirls, For Colored Girls), and Colman Domingo (Selma, “Fear the Walking Dead”), Joel McHale (“Community”) and Sundance star Kelvin Harrison Jr (Monsters and Men, Monster)
The film is written and directed by Sam Levinson. BRON’s Aaron L. Gilbert produced alongside Kevin Turen, and Foxtail’s Anita Gou. Manu Gargi, Matthew Malek, and Phantom 4’s David S. Goyer also produced. Creative Wealth’s Jason Cloth serves as an Executive Producer, alongside Mike Novogratz, Andy Pollack, David Gendron, Ali Jazayeri, and J.E Moore.
